Terms of use

Plain terms for a private app.

Finite is a personal app made and run by Dr. Fareed Tareen. These terms describe what it is, who may use it and what you can expect. They are short because the app is simple.

What Finite is

Finite is a deep-focus tracker: a timer that frames a stretch of uninterrupted attention and a record of where that attention went, by day, week, month, six months and year. It also carries a set of models about the measurable dimensions of a life — time against a published population, scale, money, health — and thirty illustrative perspectives.

What Finite is not

Access

Finite is approval-only. You sign in with a verified Google account and request access; the owner approves, declines or revokes access at their discretion. Access is personal and free of charge. Revoking access never deletes your records; you can still ask for them to be deleted (see the privacy policy).

Your records

What you enter — focus sessions, your date of birth and other optional details, reflections and preferences — belongs to you. Finite stores it on your device and in your own private account so it follows you between devices. The privacy policy describes exactly what is stored, who can see it, and how to export or delete all of it in one step.

Connections you switch on

The IronCade connection is off by default. If you switch it on, your Fitness and Meditation sessions are sent to your IronCade account, and IronCade's fitness and breathwork minutes are shown in Finite. Switching it off stops both directions. Nothing else is ever shared.

Acceptable use

Use your own account only. Do not try to read anyone else's records, probe or overload the service, or use Finite for anything unlawful. Finite is not intended for anyone under 16.

Availability and changes

Finite is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, changed or withdrawn at any time. If these terms change in a way that matters, the change and the date below will be updated here. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, the owner is not liable for any loss arising from your use of Finite or from reliance on any figure it shows. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be limited by law.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
