Local first, and quiet about it.
Finite is a way of looking at time. It works completely without an account, without a network, and without sending anything anywhere. Everything below describes what happens if you choose otherwise.
Every view works with no account, no network and no synchronisation.
No personal value appears in a link, a page title, or a social preview.
Nothing you enter is attached to an event.
Finite claims only what it implements. Transport security applies to any sync you explicitly enable; no end-to-end claim is made.
Local data deletes immediately. Cloud data and the account delete separately, each with its own control.
Nothing leaves the device until you turn it on.
What Finite holds on your device
Until you sign in, everything stays in your browser's local storage and nowhere else. That includes your date of birth, height and weight, the lifestyle answers you give — movement, food, tobacco, sleep, alcohol, metabolic health, weight trajectory — any reflections you write, and your display preferences.
Nothing is written at all until you change something. Opening Finite and looking around stores nothing. Clearing your browser data removes all of it.
What happens if you sign in
Signing in is optional and exists for one reason: to carry your own information between your own devices.
If you sign in with Google, Finite receives your email address and the basic profile Google returns for authentication. It does not request access to your Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar, or anything else in your Google account, and it cannot read them.
Once signed in, these are stored against your account identifier:
- the profile and lifestyle answers you have actually entered — fields you never touched are not uploaded, and are not sent as blanks either;
- your display preferences;
- any reflections you have written.
Data is held in Google Cloud Firestore. Security rules restrict every document to the single account that owns it, and those rules are tested automatically before each release.
Health information
Some of what Finite asks about is health information, and it is treated as the most sensitive thing here.
- It is visible only to the account that entered it. There is no sharing, no friends list, no leaderboard, no community feature, and no shared collection of any kind.
- It is never sold, licensed, or given to a data broker.
- It is never used to target advertising, market medication or supplements, or inform insurance or employment decisions.
- It is not sent to any third-party analytics service. Finite loads no analytics or advertising code at all.
- It is not used to train any model.
Finite does not diagnose, does not predict when anyone will die, and does not combine your answers into a score. It shows published research beside the answer you gave, with sources.
What Finite never collects
Finite does not ask for and does not want your medical records, medication list, genetic data, reproductive history, psychiatric history, or insurance details.
Deleting your information
- On this device. Settings has a control that erases the local record immediately.
- In the cloud. Settings has a separate control for your synced data and account. They are deliberately separate, so removing one never surprises you by removing the other.
- By email. Write to the address below and deletion will be carried out for you.
Cookies and tracking
Finite sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Signing in stores an authentication token in your browser so you are not asked to sign in repeatedly; signing out removes it.
Children
Finite is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who can see it, the change will be reflected here and the date below updated.
